I heard back from the developer, and indeed there is a shuffle option to randomly select from all the slides you create in the slider. So in theory that will do what I want, however I still leave the question open if there is a way to load the random module in the location.
The reason being, if I'm creating 5 sliders, they say the component will automatically load 2 slides of 5 whereas if i can learn how to dynamically load 1 module, it's a savings in download time.
So if anyone has an idea, i'm all ears.
thanks again!

I assume you're using this: https://extensions.joomla.org/extension ... ve-slider/.
I would suggest asking the developer of the module if they can do any custom work, such as a plugin, which might well allow random modules to be loaded. You would have paid for this extension, which should entitle you to support. At least you can ask them the question, and see if you can obtain any information on whether what you want to do is possible with their extension, or what it would take (in terms of development) to achieve it.
